Ryzen 5 1600AF @4.0 ghz
16gb ddr4 @3200mhz

encoded 1806 frames in 504.29s (3.58 fps), 11820.04 kb/s, Avg QP:29.09

I tried to run @4.1 ghz but crashed at the start. Upped voltage to 1.30 then crashed at 90%. I guess I'll stay at 4.0 ghz.

Edit: Ran it on a couple more machines.

I5-1035G4 1.1ghz 3.7 boost 4c/8t (250 dollar Walmart special dell laptop)

I think this is pretty interesting. I added a column named "efficiency" which is basically how fast each core in the system running at 1GHz can render in fps. For example, if you have a 4 core system running at 4GHz that renders the test at 2fps then each core running at 1GHz is rendering at a rate of 0.125fps. The higher the number the better your cores are at this test. Of course this penalizes the CPU's with high core counts because Handbrake doesn't seem to fully utilize cores well after about 10 or so cores. Just another way to look at the data.

I am not sure that is all that useful. Grouping by same chip then average out the score is probably more representative since there are variances between cpu/system. You are gonna need more samples of course.

That wouldn't isolate the cores which is what I'm trying to do. Like I wrote above just for fun!

All cores were bouncing between 2.6 and 3.1ghz
Windows Task Manager Performance tab showed and average of 2.78ghz

I guess that messes up your charts, sorry :oops:

I ran some further tests using this pair of 8260Ls as they were meant to be used, multi-tasking, as that is more representative of it's architecture.
Even with 4 instances of Handbrake running, they still showed a bouncing load of only 85-95% with and occasional peak to 100%.
I would be interested in knowing how this compares to some of the other multi-cpu systems here.

Very cool. Adding up those 4 instances fps-wise gives 19.22fps. Meaning if handbrake were better optimized your system would probably do the test in about 94 seconds.

WTF? Ryzens don't have a set clock. And wtf is this changing rules out of no where? You have to set rules in the OP. This is some ridiculous crap.

As a bit of an update to my run, I ran again and watched the core speeds and temp in Ryzen master. It really seemed to average out to 4.04Ghz on all six cores. I am on stock cooling and started the run with a hot processor that had been running Rosetta @Home. Temps stayed right around 75C throughout the run. I am on the stock cooler with stock thermal pad. I might try to lower these temps, but I am well below the thermal threshold (95C) and not overclocking.

I have PM'd Hulk about correcting the chart, since it has the 3600x listed as an 8/16 part, when it should be 6/12.

my buddy upgraded and gave me his old mobo and cpu, a different westmere xeon (still 6 core though) and a nicer mobo than mine, once I get that up and running I'll be able to provide a second data point for westmere performance not that anyone really cares about such an old chip lol

oh I also have a w3520 (equivalent to an i7 920, quad core) that i could get stable to 4.4GHz in the past, but I don't really want to set that up again :/ could be a data point for Bloomfield i guess...actually now that I think of it, once i set up the other system I just have to drop that cpu in ... hmmm

...and my family's desktop is running an i5-650! oh boy I gotta get busy

Some clarification. The 3570k on my run is overclocked to 4.0. Also, I reran the I5-1035g4 alongside hwmonitor. The 4 cores bounce back and forth between 2.0ghz and 2.2ghz, so I would say 2.1ghz was average.

Some clarification. The 3570k on my run is overclocked to 4.0. Also, I reran the I5-1035g4 alongside hwmonitor. The 4 cores bounce back and forth between 2.0ghz and 2.2ghz, so I would say 2.1ghz was average.

That $250 laptop you got at Walmart has a pretty nice Ice Lake CPU. What is the model?

It was this one. Looks like the price has gone up to 299. This was supposed to be an i3 but most people received i5g4 and some even received i5g7's. The box said i3 but once you booted it up you see what you really got. The same happened with a Costco laptop that was priced similarly.

Just an FYI, but Google Drive is reporting that the source file has reached a quota and might not be available again for a little while. I'm trying to redownload the file to run it again @ 4.4 GHz (or so). Sadly I deleted it after my last run, thinking I could just redownload again later if I needed it. Do we have a second source for the file?

Yeah, I'm a compulsive deleter. Some stuff I save on an old SSD if I think I might need it again later, but for stuff that's widely-available on the Internet and archived, I don't bother.

Regardless, someone looking to benchmark their system anew who hasn't yet downloaded the file will find that Google Drive won't play ball. Which is a shame.
