Benchmark Tool

Deal All:

I currently am running 2x EVGA 5870s and am thinking of upgrading. Before doing so, however, I was hoping to compare the performance of my current setup with the performance of Nvidia and AMD's most recent offerings.

Although I find AT's Bench an incredibly valuable tool -- and have also found Tom's charts to be useful -- I have yet to find a resource that gives performance for the 5870 in a CF configuration. As such, I am having difficulty properly comparing my current setup with any of the cards I am currently considering.

Thus, I was wondering if anyone knew of a site or tool I could use that would give me bench results for 5870 CF and would allow me to compare those results with benchmarks for the latest gen cards from AMD and Nvidia.

Thanks, in advance, for any help you all might be able to provide.

Regards,

If you buy a single 580 and overclock it to ~920mhz or so core,
then thats about equal to 2x 5870 in CF.

If your 5870's are overcloked as well, then...
yeah you ll need something faster than a 580 for it to be a upgrade (in terms of performance).

That means:

7950/670
7970/680

Gotta be one of these single cards, and then overclock them abit.

Google "5870cf vs 580".

Alot of people where impressed with the 580's performance, and did reviews compaireing 5870cf vs a single 580.

also Anandtech has a compair tool (5870cf vs 580) (which just shows 5870cf > 580):

Thanks for the responses; I apologize for not mentioning that I was only thinking of getting a single card (and then upgrading to CF/SLI in a year or two).

Also, thanks for pointing that I could compare 5870 CF v. 580 in Bench -- was only looking at 2012 options and didn't think to explore the 2011 options.

Still not sure whether the performance gains I would see justify purchasing a new card or whether I'd be better off upgrading to SB as I'm currently running an i5 760 @ 4GHz. After your responses, however, I now at least have the information necessary to make a more informed decision.

Thanks again for the help.

HD5870 is slightly faster than an HD6870:

Your CPU is fine.

MSI TF3 7950 in CF is the best bang for the buck if you don't mind overclocking imo.
