I installed a vga silencer on my 9800 pro, and was able to get my vid card speeds to go from 430/360 to 450/370. Problem is, my benchmark score has gone down (using umark 2k4).

DM Inferno, high quality flyby, 1600x1200 6AA 16AF used to get ~37fps, now only 32...

Anyone got any ideas?

I guess there is a possibility of overclocking too much but without the evidence of artifacts or instability.. Try backing down a bit and see if your score goes up a little. Do this in small increments.

ADDED: Oh yes, there is also the possibility that you damaged either your core or your memory or both from too high an overclock. Slight chance. It has been known to happen. Remember, you cant go by what other people are able to o/c too. Your card is not their card etc, etc.

Yeah, I moved the core back to where it was beforehand, yet don't get the speeds anymore. And I only incrementally increased clock speed after checking there were no artifacts... It'd be rather frustrating if I have melted / damaged one of the pipelines though...
