This has been posted before in one of the original Bhutto threads. Still worth a topic IMO.

EDIT: Although, if this is true (don't see the reason for her to lie), it makes you wonder what else is going on behind the scenes. If Bhutto knew that OBL had been murdered, I'm sure the U.S. knew as well. Which brings me to the question "Why didn't they tell us?". Maybe if OBL isn't around the "war on terror" wouldn't have the same effect? You decide ;)

I'm wondering if Benazir knew too much for her own good, I would imagine that kind of information about Osama Bin Laden being dead would be extremely classified.

Thats already been discussed on P&N. But dead men tell no tales and either do dead women.

And even if Ossama is dead, Al-Quida will roll merrily along. No one can kill ideas or tactics. And terrorism is at least 6000 years old.

Yep, but the politicians never cease to pull the Osama bunny out the hat to try to scare the public. And if Al Qaeda were hypothetically destroyed, would the gwot end? Probably not.

Agreed, and so the "war on terror" was never meant to be won.

Nor does it meant we have to succumb to it neither!

Those who would harm us are both physical and mortal. Kill them all.

The problem with that is two fold. (1) We don't always get it right and as a result we get collateral damage. And as a result we get people quite justifiably angry at us and they decide killing us all is self defense. (2) People who are not terrorists yet can become terrorists at any point. And even we ourselves would embrace terrorism to resist oppression.

Bottom line, we are all physical and mortal. Terrorism thrives when perceived injustices reach the point where many people decide the existing power structure is so corrupt that its better to tear it down and start fresh rather than work to reform the system that exists.

So in that sense, terrorism is a symptom of a social disease and not a cause.

Nobody cares what she said, and most don't even know what she said. You would think that a rumour then sensational would get around.

Yes I watched the entire video. Bhutto mentioned in an aside that Bin Laden has been assassinated. The interviewer did not follow up with any questions. So as you say, we are left with a rumor. And no real way to test it. But bottom line, conspiracy theories of various kinds are a dime a dozen.

Rational people don't base actions on rumors or conspiracy theories. Nor do I believe Bhutto shooting off her mouth on the status of Bin Laden had much of anything to do with her death. She was a threat for other reasons and she was killed by----insert favorite conspiracy theory.

Mustafa couldn't of murdered OBL, they were nowhere close to each other when the latter died.

There could be a chance he pointed out the location of OBL to the U.S. forces that did do the job.

But its impossible that he did the actual kill.
