also, if you scroll down that thread, the "head nvidiot" (Matt, of course) states that someone from nvidia said it WAS an nvidia hardware problem

that's why i MUST MUST MUST overclock my GTS. otherwise, I will get much lower framerates because I MUST MUST MUST disable TC.

Sounds like most of them are using the wrong patch.

If they can't notice the difference before and after, then they have serious issues with their eyes.

It seems like most of them are trying to use the 1.16n patch for the wrong version, if they used the proper patch for 1.17, 1.25, or 1.25y then they would clearly see the difference.

The patches linked above are mine, I know they work, I didn't test any of the others available, so I can't say if they work or not, mine do.
 
TAsunder, if the only issues you notice with GTS TC is the sky, then no biggie. Just disable TC. 🙂


Ben, as far as the sky is concerned, definitely looks better.

Does this patch work in mods? i.e. can I connect to a pure OSP or RA3 server and play using the patch?

How about the lighting and walls and whatnot?

those stupid purple splotches bug the $hit outta me.
 
I don't even know how to enable or disable TC anymore. It's been that long since I played Q3 beyond a simple test of speed.

Yes, the patch will work with mods. The entirety of the Q3 patch is two bytes in the executable.

It helps the lighting out some, but doesn't completely fix it(still trying to figure that out).

TASunder-

This patch won't work with a Radeon, it will only display a couple of textues at all, you mainly see a white, blank screen.

If you are running a Radeon, I wouldn't worry about it, it doesn't have anywhere near the problems of the GF based boards with TC.

BTW- Versions up to and including 1.17, r_ext_compress_textures 1(on 0=off)

1.25 or 1.25y r_ext_compressed_textures 1(on 0=off).
