Beltre to the Mariners

BOOOO!!!! HISSS!!!!! I wanted the Tigers to sign him. 🙁 :mad; 5 for $64 is pretty good considering the rediculous contracts being thrown out there.

I'm actually glad the Tigers didn't sign him.

Until last year, he averaged ~20 home runs a year and is a lifetime .274 hitter.

I don't want to see the Tigers overpay someone because they had one good year.

I have a funny hunch Beltre is gonna suck next year. At any rate, maybe the Dodgers learned from the Dreifort fiasco. But, I guess we'll see what happens next year. I see the Mariners are tired of being left behind by the Angels/Athletics.

<-- Angels' fan.

I am a Tigers fan and I am pretty happy with the last seasons line up. However we still need to work on that bullpen. Only problem is most of the free agent pitchers have been taken. I know Randy Johnson is still looking for a new home. It would be interesting but I don't think they could afford him.

Beltre cashed in big time.. he had ONE good season, his contract year no less and KA-CHING!

I say last season was a fluke for Beltre but lets see. Mariners still have some work to do though as Angels have a heck of a team, Oakland is still fine and Texas is getting better and better with Showalter at the helm.

Kinda wished Sexson signed with the Mets but oh well...

EXACTLY. He is not as good as last season made him out to be. He is gonna suck in that cavern of a stadium in Seattle.

Isn't Dodger stadium a cavern as well? And won't Beltre have more protection with Boone/Sexson in the lineup than with last year's LA team?

Exhibit A: Darren Dreifort
Exhibit B: Chan Ho Park

Adrian Beltre has always had the potential to do what he did last season. He's still only 25 years old - yup, only 25. This contract signs him through a nice portion of his career in an age sense.

While it is a pretty big risk as he's only had one great season, he's still only 25 and has always had the potential and the ability to be a great player. This could be a great signing.

The reason why I'm excited is because Dodgers Stadium is a pitchers park as well, meaning he should not see a dip in numbers. And this is a good deal for last years numbers, everyone doesn't expect him to hit almost 50 homers again, but if he puts up 35-40 and a nice average like last year, the Mariners will be very happy. Also, he is a good fielding 3B. And, he hits rightys better than lefties, a reverse platoon.
