So, i was driving when a car in front of me hit a big ass puddle of rain water on the side of the road. I dodged it, but still i guess the underside of my car got splashed. Everything seemed okay till i had to stop and take off from a red light.

I heard a screech sound from some belt on the engine :hmm: :hmm::hmm: and everything was fine and dandy. My mustang does this from time to time if i hit a puddle of water and the belt gets wet.

This time the battery light came on and the car started overheating. It still runs fine and starts up perfect.

Any idea which belt this is? Its at the bottom of the engine located center.

Were taking it to a local garage to get fixed.

Car is a: 2004 suzuki grand vitara

Water pump/alternator belt(s)
Open your hood and check them.

Defiantly the alternator belt. How far can i drive this baby (esimated guess) without the alternator?
Thinking about getting it towed as the shop is about 9 minutes away. Not long, but still dont trust driving it.

Don't drive it at all. Forget the alternator, you can overheat that motor to death.
Installing an accessory belt is simple to do.
