Belmont banned smoking everywhere

http://www.smdailyjournal.com/article_preview.php?id=66988

Suddenly the comparisons of the US to a fascist police state are more believable. I'm not sure how it even makes sense to only allow people to smoke in detached single family houses. Rather than go outside, parents will have to light up inside, where the kids are? It's as if that city council believes that puffing cigarette smoke into the air affects the health of someone 10 feet away outdoors.

And what do smokers who live in apartments do?

Of course laws like this are difficult to speak against because "Smoking is disgusting. Why would you want to support smoking? Are you some kind of terrorist??"

Total fscking nannyism! Smoke outside, if you live in an apartment. On my deck, I will smoke. I don't care what the law is. If I'm on my own property, screw em.

No, you need proper apartment management, like managers who ask their tenants if they smoke, and place them accordingly.

They can have a smoking, and nonsmoking designation, if they would work it out. This draconian action on personal freedoms is unacceptable.

Yikes, my uncle lives in Belmont, and he's happens to be a smoker. Guess he's gonna be pissed when he hears about this.

that was about 1.5 year ago when they moved it. the management wouldn't do sh!t. I made the situation better by blocking the bathroom vent fan. apparently, that's where most of the smell got into my apt. I also blocked the whole pipe with some package foams.

It goes way beyond smoking and the transfat ban in New York. In Washington State you can't even go for a walk in the woods without buying a yearly pass. So much for the government advocating a healthy lifestyle.

There are numerous trails into the mountains a very short drive out of Seattle. You cannot park your car at the trailheads without the $30.00 Access Stewardship Pass. You cannot park at many river accesses throughout the state without this pass. Forget hiking, swimming or fishing.

yeah, how dare anyone live different from me. if your not a criminal like these smokers you have nothing to worry about.

If they're not going to allow smoking in public (and in this case, private residences), they sure as fvck better not tax cigarettes in that town.

They're going to regret this law when some deranged asshole who is given a ticket for smoking offs a cop or two.

Well if you knew what you were talking about or cared about the Freedoms this country were formed by you might have noticed this small fact

"
The Belmont City Council voted unanimously last night to pursue a strict law that will prohibit smoking anywhere in the city"

"The council?s decision garnered applause from about 15 people who showed up in support of the ordinance"

That my friend is not a Community.

We have a representative form of government. If you want to make laws in your community start to lobby your representative, run for office or STFU.

Alternately you could incorporate your own town with the state, elect yourself mayor and make all the laws you want, jackass.
