Bellsouth issues that Bellsouth can't fix?

I've had Bellsouth DSL for around 10 months now, and everyday it goes down. DNS is unavailable, but I can't ping any websites either. IPconfig release/renew doesn't do anything. Unplugging the modem for 2 minutes work, but only for a day. I updated the firmwear on the Westell modem they gave me, and that did nothing excet slow down the connection. THe internal diagnostics always pass everything except "IP" which fails whether or not I can access the internet. So I called tech support, danced their dance, and that did absolutely nothing. THey told me that it was Adaware or AVG, which it isn't. They then told me I have spyware or a virus, which isn't the case either. I have fresh installed Windows XP pro and home on two different machines, and the problem is there from the start. Anyone have any idea what else I can do? I am tired of having to unplug and replug the modem every single day!!!

One more thing, tech support had me create a "broadband" connection and it gives a 772 error.

BellSouth DSL is normally very good. You may eother have something bad about your line or even a bad Modem. Have you tried a different Modem? Have you tried your connection directly from where the phone line comes into your house? (Called the NID).

There is a lot of support at DSLReports.com, go into All Forums and under CLEC support you'll find BellSouth.

My BellSouth connection never goes down even when there is a power outage in the area. The DSL Box on the corner has battery backup and I have a 1,100 Watt UPS on my system including the DSL Modem.
