So glad to see this, finally! We have to stop supporting the CCP.

I can confirm that one of those has been deploying Huawai though, but the fact that they changed their mind is a good sign, not sure what happens to the stuff already deployed, but at least the new stuff won't be Huawai.

Most governments and corporations these days. Buying from them is supporting them. At least in this case they chose the moral route for once.
So if I buy a head of a lettuce at the grocery store, I'm supporting the farmer who beats his wife?

Meh, I don't support the CCP, but refusing to use Huawei products is based upon blatant propaganda meant to bolster US Corporate interests. I don't know if the CCP can track me with Huawei products, but I do know that the US Government can track me with practically every other Corporations products. What difference would it make to me if the CCP could as well?

Who supports the CCP?
Everyone who does business with them, no different from the those who bought products from the slave south, patronized establishments during the Jim Crow era that promoted or enforced segregation, those that did business with South Africa during the Apartheid era, etc.,

feel free to add on unless you are a virtue signaler for rights you demand for yourself but refuse to pay for products and services made under those conditions so you twist and rationalize that somehow your rights end at the US border because price only matters and what you can't see doesn't affect you.

The CCP requires Chinese citizens to comply with and assist when asked. "...all organizations and citizens shall, in accordance with the law, support, cooperate with, and collaborate in national intelligence work, and guard the secrecy of national intelligence work they are aware of’.

If they aren't physically in China, they have family who is. Remember the regime we're dealing with here.

While I can control what kind of cel phone I use, I have less control over the hardware used to propagate the network said phone uses. I already curb my purchases of Chinese goods as much as possible, won't be stopping anytime soon. We need to reduce our reliance on China, not increase it. American companies having access to cheap goods and services shouldn't trump national security. We already let oil do that. Personally I don't find disdain at Americans or foreigners spying on me to be mutually exclusive positions.

With China's track record of espionage, manipulation, predatory investments in poor countries, and proudly held aims of expansion/domination, it puzzles me why people aren't at least wary of relying on them for 5G tech. I wish I could understand their dismissive attitude towards China.

Speaking of recent Chinese history...

You may disagree but I don't think it is a wise idea to give the CCP backdoors into our critical infrastructure, especially if a conflict arises in the future between USA and Red China.

Meanwhile, the US is currently bombing numerous Countries, killing people, destroying countless lives. Elsewhere they topple Democratically elected Governments. Then there are the Nations they continue to try to Starve Out, some for over half a Century now.

No such Backdoor has ever been demonstrated. Just asserted. However, the US Government Backdoor is known by all.

Are you under the impression that is news to me, or are you just too carried away with whataboutism to appreciate my comments regarding criticism for both governments?

Here is the question:
Yes the NSA can access you mobile devices
All the experts agree Chinese made network equipment will have backdoors.

China is know for hackers & fraudsters
NSA is not know for being fraudsters
NSA is controlled by an elected Government that you can have input into. China is not.

To say you don’t care who has access because the NSA has access is sort of naive.

Backdoor access is not the only point here, c'mon. There is also monitoring and outright jamming.

After what happened to the African Union's HQ there is plenty of cause for concern.
