I just bought a couple 1000VA models in the same form factor. They come with a nice, long cord, probably 5 feet at least. Much longer than the APC units I replaced.

Nice deal, OP.

Nice find. I've been looking for one big enough to provide reserved power to my systems and this could be it. For voltage monitoring purposes, is it possible to split the usb cable (from the UPS) and feed the two separate systems?

You know I've just found the answer myself by looking at the unit graphics over the NewEgg site. I can use USB for one PC and serial port for another. I'm going to order one myself.

Does anybody know if this UPS has fan in it or not? Also, how loud the buzzing is? More or less than APC 1000VA units? I get this thing provides 8 protected power outlets, right? And one last question, does it come with software that lets shut down all computers connected to it (for example if you have 3 computers connected to it)?

From what I know, it will only shut down one of the computers. Since it probably send the same signal to multiple computers if you could find a splitter of some sort you could use that.

If it shuts down only one computer, it probably does it via software installed on that computer. I think APC provides a "client" software that you can install on multiple computers and that can shut down computer in the event of power loss.

May be the same one here that included free shipping.
However, this one does not include free shipping (TIKO).
Also, with a Simulated Sine Wave, this UPS would not be usable with your laser printer.
Neither of these comments are intended as a tc as I'm thinking of one for myself.
I consider it a good find.

A simulated sine was is not a sine wave, its a square wave, they cost alot less then a UPS that will have a true sine wave.. I didn't know about laser printed but I do know sound and possible video will be distorted a little, you will hear clipping. But that doesn't matter because this is made to keep your computer alive while you shut it down anyways, you shouldnt be listening to anything.

This is an excellent UPS, I purchased 2 of them from Belkin when they were running their famous 5 digit discount program (no, the discount program is not in effect anymore--sorry) for $99 + s/h. This is a good deal for this.

the belkin website says out of stock due to popularity
i have been buying APC as of late because the batteries in my various Belkins (650-750) went unchargeable after about a year
However we do have some nasty power outages/surge restarts on kind of a regular basis out here

That's funny, I just ditched APC to buy Belkin because our APC units were losing batteries every 6-8 months. :p

Honestly, I only picked the Belkins because I had to buy 2 at CompUSA B&M in a pinch and the equivalent APCs' boxes didn't have handles and the Belkins did, and I had to carry them back to a client's office 10 blocks away. My shoulders were still sore the next day, though!

Does this UPS have Automatic Voltage Regulation or might that be why this is nearly half off?

Do you happen to know the voltage at which the AVR would begin correcting?

How would you compare it to: Tripp Lite OmniVS1000 ?

I am definitely now in the market for a good ups <$150 ever since my house has turned against me with rolling brownouts whenever I happen to turn my back on my pc. heh

Also, how would you rate Belkin vs APC vs Tripp Lite in quality/price?

APC = huge marketing budget and always making exotic products (they have too much profit in their accounts for my taste). Tripp Lite = expensive but consistent. Belkin = makes knock-off copies of every popular product made (router, UPS etc).

This particular UPS seems to be nice... I like the shape... got one last time Buy had it on sale.

Short of taking apart all the models, who really knows if the quality of the battery+inverter compares?

I think you get what you pay for. I've had no name crap UPS units from compusa that killed a motherboard/cpu when it got overloaded.
Also its kinda interesting that the two 900va units from belkin and APC that I have are VASTLY differant battery sizes. APC has about 3 or 4 times the battery volume despite having same va rating.

However, if I had to get a non APC unit, belkin would be my first choice. In fact I'll probably pick one of these up for someone's 2003 server that I've been taking care of.

If you try to avoid running the batteries completely down, they will last longer (they are SLA, similar to car batteries). Also you can often get much cheaper battery replacements from ebay.

Thanks OP. Just ordered one.

No, it does not have a fan.
APC in their knowledge base strongly reccomends against plugging a laser printer into a battery supported plug.
They state to just use a surge protector because of the heavy hit at start-up.

In four years I've never had an issue with the Belkin F6C120-UNV now in service(1200VA).
I bought it from mWave as NOS(new old stock) on sale. The battery took three days to settel down.
It got kind of warm so it was unplugged for 12 hours, then plugged back in for 12. Did that for 3 to 4
days before the case was cool at the end of 12 hours charging. After 4 years it needs a battery. Not too shabby.

No, At least I have not tried it comes with one USB cable and one Serial cable, I have mine hooked up to two computers that way.
The one time the power has gone out it shut down both computers. One computer acts as the master controling the unit while the other recives the data from the unit and controls it if the other computer is off.

There is no buzzing unless the unit is on battery operation even then only a slight buzz. It has a very loud beeping noise if the power goes out.

No rack mounting brackets came with mine about 6 months ago.

For you guys wanting to do multiple usb to same device... isn't there some way to make one system tell the others via network?
