belkin wireless g plus desktop card - version 1212

model # f5d7001

windows media center

----------------------------------------

I downloaded the software/driver for this from belkin.com and then installed fine.. then after restarting it will connect to a network.. through the belkin utility.. or if I disable that it will work through windows (wireless network connection)

after restarting the computer the next time.. it won't connect anymore.. it shows the networks but just won't connect.. normally when it's connecting it will show some activity like it's trying to connect in the taskbar icon.. but it doesn't even do this after restarting.

do you have any idea what the problem could be?

didn't help.. I have it set to automatically choose an ip, and I've also tried to manually set it.

I don't have internet on this network, I'm just trying to share files.. I have 1 pc connected directly to the switch.. and then my WAP plugged in as well.

my laptop connects to the network fine through wireless.. so it can't be anything with the network.. somethings just wrong with the pc that won't connect.

Sounds like a problem with your WEP or WPA key. Try updating driver, updating firmware on wireless AP, and power recylcing everything.

I've had weird problems with wireless PCI cards kind of like this. I always ended up just replacing the card with a new one, and it solved the problem.

yeah.. I installed the updated firmware from belkin.com ..also tried the firmware on the software cd.

tried rebooting the computer and the router.

took off the key with no encryption... just won't work.

it doesn't make sense that it works after the first reboot.. and then none after that.
