Belkin KVM Switch

I have a Belkin OmniView SE 4 port switchbox but I can't seem to get the hot key to work. If I push scroll lock-scroll lock, it beeps and the mouse freezes, but then after a second or two, it just goes back to normal still on the same screen. I've used similar switch boxes at work and usually after hitting the hot key, a menu will pop up and you can choose from available ports. Is the this KVM different? Also, I've noticed that the switchbox works with both the AC adapter plugged in and without. What's the AC adapter for then?

After your hit 'scroll-lock' 'scroll-lock', hit the up or down arrow on your computer, that will switch you between ports. Belkin OmniView's don't have a menu that appears on the screen like more expensive ones (Raritan).

As far as the AC Adapter goes. It is probably pulling power from the keyboard port on the pc, but that is just my speculation. I figure if they gave you the ac adapter, then use it.
