belkin F1U400 and linux

I have a belkin F1U400 4 port USB switch. I have using it to switch my mouse and keyboard between a Windows machine and a linux machine. Only problem is, it doesnt seem to want to switch to the linux machine. Theoretically, its just re-routing the USB cables, and linux is plug and play enough that it should detect when i switch. I mean, it does when i plug it into the back of the computer manually. Any suggestions???
