And most have holes through two of the six sides. Bug hiding holes. Come to think of it, most bricks are considered holey even among the secular.

My preferred insect extermination method when I was many decades younger was a 12 inch magnifying glass that my grandpa gave me as a birthday gift. I was supposed to use it to "explore the tiny world around you", but quickly discovered that a large lens was very good at focusing the light and heat of the summer sun. The focused point was hot enough to almost instantly light newspaper on fire, and could even ignite small twigs and popsicle sticks without much effort..
