I might believe it, because the sticker says, "upgrade your PC to the fastest model on the market every 2 years for only $99!"

But EMachines went out of business in 2013.

I actually found this PC, RUNNING, in my daughter's bedroom. I set it to run WCG back at the end of January, to add some heat. I forgot all about it, turned on the monitor today (well, yesterday now), and WOW! It's close to 60% finished with it's first task already! (Believe it...or DON'T.)

LOL. The wiki on e-machines says they dealt in entry level budget friendly systems, so I'm guessing they meant the "fastest WE put on the market." Still, wasn't too bad of a deal, assuming the customer didn't have to pay shipping to return the used PC and also to receive the new PC. Except for being tied to dial-up for internet.

The system has been gutted for years, but I just can't get rid of that case, for it gets more humorous to read that front panel with each passing year.

(I was being snide, Assimilator, in my previous post regarding VirtualLarry's remark that if it crunches, it's never obsolete)

If your, uhm, what's a safe term to use these days... If your "financial partner", thinks you spend too much on computers, show them what you have now, how much you've paid, and then show them this, and remember to adjust the prices for inflation.

Wow, that page you linked... "ESDI drive/controller". I vaguely remember that term, but I'm not sure what it was, or what kind of cables it used. I remember MFM/RLL, then early IDE. I think ESDI was in-between those? Or perhaps it was high-end?
