When the madam used the pigeon-hole principle to manage her brothel, it was the first use of in-discrete mathematics.

What about the cost benefit evaluation of the worth of a customer vs another

The math site that I have linked to in the past, recently moved to a new supporting infrastructure. No matter what I did, I couldn't log in. Finally, I discovered that when you post an answer as a Guest, the system will ask if you want to become a member. So, I needed something to post. A math joke came to mind.

First a definition: Derangements are the number of ways that hats in a hat-check room can be arranged so that no person will get his own hat back.

I found a thread about derangements and posted, "When life hands you derangements, you cannot find your hat, your car-keys, and your MathOverflow account."

I got one down-vote before I had the chance to verify my new password! They are a tough audience!
