Belichick Named AP NFL Coach of the Year

Hard to argue with Belichick, but Marvin Lewis should have won that award.

You could make an argument for either one. I am just glad it didn't go to Parcells.

Both did a great job, and I think that Lewis would have gotten more votes had they made the playoffs, but it's hard to argue with a team that is 14-2 with over 40 different starters.

I don't know much about what he was like in Cleveland, but it sounds like he just wasn't ready yet.
Eh, sometimes the coach gets too much credit. His players in Cleveland just weren't all that great. Build a team with talented veterans and a good coach like Belichick will do wonders every time.

Yep, talented players and good coaches make a great team. The Bengals has a lot of good players, now they have a good coach, but not good enough to make the playoff this year.

Why? What more could he have done?

:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:'s to Bill. Was there any doubt?

Now, all we need is to go 3-0 and we're home free......

He deserves it. There were a lot of good coaching jobs done, Parcells, Fox in Carolina, Lewis making the Bengals respectable, but 14-2 is tough to argue with.

agreed. Especially in so many close games the Patriots were in, they always found a way to win. Good coaches are usually the difference makers there.

as a bengals fan...i still dont totally believe the bengals have changed...losing to the browns with the playoffs on the line...losing to teams such as raiders, bills, browns, steelers, cardinals this year in a "playoff run" year.

i will wait till they have their first winning season in since 2000 before i give too much praise...

if the bengals had beaten the browns and gone 9-7 even if they didnt make the playoffs, then maybe lewis should have gotten it...but 8-8 im not sure about

13 years and counting

they went from the worst team in the nfl to 2nd in their division. that has to say something about them...

but in 2001 they were 6-10 and had the 9th best defense in the league....
2003 8-8 with a better offense, but the 27th defense in the league, giving up 150+ yards to such great running backs as Shipp and Suggs...

i mean i hope everyone is right that they are a new team, but for the fans that have been waiting so long its hard to believe after that browns loss

Please. The Cowboys were the beneficiaries of an easy schedule early in the season. Put them against the good teams and they get killed. Like they're getting right now.

But look at what Parcells did He won 10 GAMES without a quartback or a running back. The offece was AWFUL the defence was great but thoose same players fopund ways to lose last year.

Lewis gained two games in a division that was much worse than a year ago. The east was Bad aswell but the AFC north was the worst division in the NFL.

The bungles had breakout years from CHad Johnson and Rudi as well as improved play from the entire offence. Kitna finally held it together for a whole year.

The Cowboys found ways to win with no great players on offence.
