Of course Bela Lugosi IS dead. Duh!

And the song IS old, but I just heard it again and thought of something...

Is it Bela Lugosi's Dead as in Lugosi IS dead or is it a possessive apostrphe "s"?

I ask because he says "Bela Lugosi's Dead. I'm Dead" and obviously he's not saying he's Bela Lugosi AND he's dead because he's not Mr. Lugosi... he's Daniel Ash.

Bela Lugosi was big on the monster type movie, so to say the word "dead" as a possession for the man is not far fetched, and certainly the Godfather of Goth would be the first to admit that he is "quite the zombie" and could in fact be one of Bela Lugosi's dead.

Think about it. ;)

I think your hypothesis really depends on what the definition of "is" is.

Bill couldn't figure it out, although I'm surprised you can't, JonnyG. ;)

Peter Murphy was the singer of Bauhaus. Dan Ash was the guitarist. After Murphy left, the rest of the band went on as Tones On Tail and Love and Rockets.

Song lyrics:
White on white translucent black capes
Back on the rack
Bela Lugosi's dead
The bats have left the bell tower
The victims have been bled
Red velvet lines the black box
Bela Lugosi's dead
Undead undead undead
The virginal brides file past his tomb
Strewn with time's dead flowers
Bereft in deathly bloom
Alone in a darkened room
The count
Bela Logosi's dead
Undead undead undead

Every here has seen "Ed Wood", right?

Jonny - He just left out the last word of the line. It was supposed to be:

Bela Lugosi's Dead MOTHERBOARD... He inherited it and wants to know why the PIII 667(6!) your company sold him won't boot when he hammered it into the Motherboard? I mean, granted the motherboard is pretty old - about the size of a room and needs ticker tape. ;)

Actually, you may be onto something, there... have you found the lyrics online to check what he does sing?

edit - nevermind, saw last post there with lyrics.

Oh! Un dead. Not "I'm dead". Got that.

Peter Murphy was on the first album? Hmm.... Ok! You say so! ;)

<edit> Co-Worker just told me that Peter Murphy was DEFINITELY always lead. :p Sorry. </edit>

Reading the lyrics still doesn't explain anything. :(

Could go either way! :)
