Being stuck in VGA mode kind of sucks

My machine has been freezing up lately. I thought it was a game I was on, but then it also started happening in another game plus when I'm watching dvd's...I'm talking reset/hard boot freezing..

So I updated my directx to 8.1a, didn't seem to help any, so I downloaded the latest detonator drivers...which was a mistake, I think the killed my video card. I could not get to the login screen with the new drivers and could only boot up in vga mode..

Bad thing about it is VGA is the only mode that will work for me now, I've tried the latest..2.3.x.x

and some older ones to 5.4.3 or something like that...and no dice.

Has anybody else witnessed a video card gone bad?

You are just having problems with your drivers. If you get VGA at least, then the card works. If it is broken, then you wouldnt be able to use see anything.

Anyway, did you make sure you uninstalled the drivers properly before installing the new once? Also, you should've been on vga mode before installing new drivers.

so what detonator driver should I use? I found this one guys web site and he probably has like 30 different ones. I've already downloaded the 2.0.6.0 from his site.

well 23.11 killed me last time..and the only other one I saw on nvidia was something around 10

maybe, use this, and THEN install a Det. Driver
