Fever 103.1, severe congestion, coughing every 2 minutes................Your average run of the mill spring flu, on top of pollen allergies.

I wish I could just take my head off and suck everything out with a shop vac.

No sleep due to coughing. And before anyone says take this, take that........I have a small drugstore in my bathroom.

try breathing in steam from a hot cup of water as often as you can. I had the persistent cough as well that basically prevented me from sleeping. And breathe through something so you're not sucking in pure cold air. You might look like a ninja for awhile but you'll cough less.

What another member suggested. When I get really congested I get a hot towel and drape it over my head(sort of like a tent) and then breath in steam with lemon from a hot bowl of water.

I put a pan on the stove and boil water at a medium pace, lean over it with a towel over my head. Do that as much as you can stand, and it will amaze you. It will all come back in the night, but for several hours you will be cleaned out to a large extent.
I hope you are feeling better soon. My wife has been sick over a week, with the aforementioned bronchitis. She actually scored a trifecta, bronchitis, ear infection and sinus infection:p

Yeah, I here ya. My 17 month old girl just got over the stomach flu and now my 4 1/2 year boy has it. Good times. I'm just hoping my wife and I don't get it.

I know the feeling. Starting Wednesday, I had a sore throat when I woke up and by Friday, I had severe congestion. I feel a lot better now (as compared to yesterday and this morning), but now I'm physically tired. I hate being sick.

Did he give you that flu med (tamaflu?) that stops it from reproducing?

You get better pretty quickly with that stuff.

Feel better soon!

:( i hate being sick. atleast it doesn't happen often as my immune system is pretty good. if your nose is plugged, do what Mo0o sugested. breathing in steam really helps.

Yep, tamaflu, and mucinex-d. But, I did not go to the dr. until after I had it for 48 hours, so the tamaflu may not work, however because of the mucinex-d I am able to breathe, as well as hock up quite a few oysters. plus the stuff coming out of my nose is like what was coming out after sinus surgery

It's not too good of an idea to take a hot shower when you have a high fever.

Just be careful not to get over 105°F, or you might risk brain damage.
