Being rich is overrated. Think about it.

Seriously, if you think about it, all that money is just going to sit there in your bank account making the bank executives giggle... Maybe you can buy a few luxury items, but after the first "wow" impression, you'll get tired of them and stop caring... money brings more problems and responsibilities. You'll lose a lot of the freedoms you enjoy as an average Joe. There's nothing better than making enough money to survive without worries, and maybe that extra little income that can provide you with some bonus luxuries. And if you want to be rich just so that your sons and daughters will be ok for life, well, that sounds pretty irresponsible: "I'll give my kids tons of money and let them do what they want without the need to put any effort into achieving their dreams." Seriously, what kind of father thinks like that

Oh, and I don't want to marry a woman who wants me just for my money....

What about giving the money to your parents who are nearing retirement and did not get a chance to do a lot of what they wanted to in life because they had to sacrifice a lot to raise you. Or to your elementary or high school teachers ... they're often not recognized for the amt. of impact they really have. Or how about scholarships for upcoming freshmen ... Or what 99% of the ATOT folks would do ... hookers and blow everyday :)

I wouldn't complain if I were rich and I think I would quite enjoy it as long as I had the little social interaction I need to be happy :p.

Yeah. If you're independently wealthy, you lose freedoms like:
  • Working 40-80 hours every week.
  • Worrying about what happens if you lose your job.
  • Wondering how you'll pay for your child's braces.
  • Wishing you could afford to send your child to the really good but expensive college instead of just to technical school.
  • Being tired and worn out at the end of a long work day and unable to fully enjoy the company of your family and friends in the evening.
I'd sure hate losing all those wonderful freedoms.

Beats having to work for a living.

I love my job. Even if I was rich, I would still work. Not working might seem good at first, but it gets boring. Trust me.

Overrated? LOL

Poor people always wish they are richer.

Rich people never wish they are poorer.

You missed the critical part of the statement, it's not about liking or disliking a job. Nowhere in that statement does it imply that I choose to be rich and not work at all. I am pointing out that being rich is better than having to work to sustain a lifestyle.
