For those that play fantasy football, we know that some players get labeled as 'injury prone' and causes their value to drop. Often times antagonists of that position claim that no one is injury prone, but that anyone can get injured at any time. I'm starting to think I highly disagree with that. I've played sports my entire life, ranging from recreational to competitive leagues. I would say I am DEFINITELY injury prone.

When I was 10 I had a major knee injury while playing baseball that I think now, looking back on it, was a partial tear in my ACL. Over the next 4 years I had recurring injuries with my knee where it would sublocate and then pop back into place. Extremely painful, but when it happened it would only keep me out for a week or two. When I was a freshman in HS I tore that same ACL for sure, as well as my meniscus that required arthroscopic surgery. They shaved the meniscus but didn't repair the ACL due to it not being fully torn and not wanting to stunt my growth plates at such a young age. It felt good for the next few years.

When I was 15 I broke my finger the first week of football practice. Kept me out for a few weeks as I was a receiver and it was a pretty bad break. Its crooked as hell now !

The next year I had a pretty bad case of shin splints that kept me out of practice for a week or two.

My senior year was fairly uneventful, although rolling ankles, pinched nerves, sprained fingers were all common, they weren't major.

At 20 I fully tore my ACL on my bad knee that required reconstructive surgery. I did this while playing basketball... by myself.

A few years later I had a pretty nasty collision during a soccer game that caused what they called a 'kissing contusion' in my other knee. I honestly thought I tore my ACL in that knee with the way the pain was. The pain/limping literally lasted 2 months which apparently was normal for that type of injury. I was out of sports for about 4 months.

Just last night during a basketball game I rolled my ankle hard as fuck. Woke up this morning and its swollen as hell. Can't walk on it. Throbbing pain. Good thing I'm off work today. But shit... what the hell. Why do I always injure myself?!?

I MUST be injury prone, no other explanation I keep having these injuries that for the most part are collision free. So I have determined that other people must be injury prone too, including football players.

So the next time you are thinking of drafting a player that is 'injury prone' but think to yourself 'thats not real' think of me. That bitch is gonna get injured again, sometime, somewhere. It'll happen. He's cursed like me.

I am accident prone I guess. I messed up a knee for a few days when I got tackled playing *touch* football with my brothers while I was home from college many years ago, and have had a few jammed fingers/toes, but no broken bones. I fell down the stairs once onto a friend who was descending before me. I also broke a knife cutting up an apple (the blade flipped backward but didn't cut me). I broke a window knocking on it to get inside and another one trying to open it. I fell into a metal dishwasher grate when i worked in a bakery. When I finally got a wii and was doing balance board setup, it asked me if I fall a lot. Apparently my balance isn't so hot.

Haha, wow. Accident prone for sure. At least you aren't getting injured often though.

I would think it self-evident that some people are going to be more injury prone than others. Probably comes down to a combination of genetics, level of fitness, training, care received, injury history, etc. Injury history is pretty important; one injury early on can cause problems for the rest of your life, especially if you make no change in your activities.

people's bodies are different.

My bones are strong as steel. But my tendons and such are very touchy. I have one bad knee (cartilage tear I never took care of) and carpal tunnel/tendinitis in my wrist. I had a trigger finger once, that was interesting.

But I've only officially broken one bone. My collar bone when I jumped a dirt bike and landed in the worst possible way. I dropped a 36" tv on my foot and the doctors swore it was broke but the x rays never showed a break. I slammed my car into a light pole and no broken bones. I did break a few fingers and toes playing football but I didn't see a doctor since there isn't much they can do for those.

So yes, some people are prone to injury. Some people are just not active enough to ever get them as well.

My favorite store about that is my buddy was carrying a load of laundry at his house. He stepped over the dog and landed very badly. He somehow managed to compound fracture one of the bones in his foot. Came right out the top of his foot, through the skin. Just by stepping over the dog.
