Apple is only < $100? I thought their legion of fandom would've driven them over that by now. Like Google's stratosphere. Bah.

I made my first stock purchases ever buying AAPL at 14 1/8 and then 13 7/8 back in '97.

Don't ask me where I sold it.

I said don't ask. :colbert:

That's about the price I paid when I first bought in late 2000. But it's all good. Once I sell I try to move on and not look back. But that's harder to do than it sounds when the stock you bought was a $4 billion company now worth like $600 billion.

I can think of plenty of stinkers I bought over the years. My closest call was Worldcom. I sold that turd one day before it filed for bankruptcy. I was playing dead cat bounce trade and had over 6 figures in that turd. I had a horrible feeling the night before and couldn't sleep. I sold it at the open in the morning. Next day was the bankruptcy announcement. I dodged a major bullet.

It's a theory I have. I tried to look for it on the net with searches of various wordings of the thread title. But didn't really find anything, but it must be out there.

It's basically that our pc gaming enthusiasm steered us mostly to Microsoft OS which was and is the main OS for pc games, way ahead of Apple in popularity. This may have caused us to not take Apple seriously and to overlook the possibilities of investing in Apple when it was affordable. It was $10 usd per share back in 1999 and again when it went down to $10 in 2001.

And $15,000 invested when it was $10 a share would have become over $1 million when Apple peaked above $700 a couple years ago. I know when you look at Apple's peak in charts it shows it peaked in the $90's per share but that's because of Apple's 6 to 1 stock split. So financial charts adjust it going all the way back. It did reach over $700/share and that can be shown in a Google search.

And I missed the boat with Apple, never bought any of their stock unless a little bit of it is in my mutual fund but that's not much.

It was a 7 to 1 split.

If Amigans spend a little less time flaming Atari fanboys and a little more being armchair analyst they could've been rich too.
