Being Asked to Activate Windows Again because of hardware change

Today I get a message telling me I have 3 days left to
activate Windows following a hardware change. This is strange because I have
not made any hardware changes, except for adding in a new hard drive about a
month ago. I try to activate, but it says that the key is already in use.
What do I do?

I have people telling me to call them and get it figured out that way, but which number do I call so that I don't have to pay for their mistakes?

Thanks for the reply but can I have a little bit of info about what that phone number goes to?

India. 😉

It's Microsoft's activation support number. Call them up, read them the numbers, tell them "no" when they ask you if you have this Windows CD installed on more than one computer, and enter the numbers they give you.

It shouldn't happen, but you did change the hardware as stated in your post. Call it is easy and pretty much painless.
