so my current domain name, godaddy, sent me an email, saying that for 99 dollars per year, I can be their reseller for any of these items:

Domains (.COM, .NET, .ORG, .US, .BIZ, .INFO and more)
Hosting, spam-protected email, web site builders
Secure SSL Certificates, merchant accounts, search engine tools
Private registrations, file encryption and shredding software and MORE!

Anybody have experience in doing these things? How does it work? What would the reseller need to do to make money, and any comments?

They are probably promoting their Wild West Domains site.

I highly recommend enom who lets you brand your own whois info and stuff.

Only thing about WWD is that I belive they give you a ready made site with built in order system and everything. With enom everything is up to you to design.

a couple of questions:

is this 99/year a good deal?

is this type of business something that has a potential to make a profit(not looking for big profit, I will still keep my day job)

what is needed from me, in terms of manpower in order to run this type of business?

An extremely crowded field, and dot-com mania is long gone.

Unless you're also selling hosting you're competing against the person's hosting company as well as all the registration companies like GoDaddy itself.

Agreed.

I have an eNom resellers account from DomainResell.biz

I pay $7.95/yr and charge my clients $14.95/yr pocketing the difference :)
