Being a patent consultant?

Anyone ever done this before? What's it like? I just got a great opportunity thrown in my lap for a rather high profile case that was in the news recently... I can't say for whom and for what side I'd be on for obvious reasons, but I'm wondering what it's like.

umm, this isn't simply saying "your idea is crap." It's a lot bigger deal than that.
