But what if, if, something happens within the company such as a bomb, money stolen, etc and she/he turns up missing, then what? I know this is worst case scenario, but what if.

And what if your friend that's US born jokingly says he's going to set fire to work.
Should you report them to HR too?

Depends. What if that person is serious and does have conflicts with the company? What if that person follows through and people lose their lives? Then what? And if you had knowledge that person was going to do that wouldn't you feel like an ass because you could have prevented the loss of life? This person most likely hasn't displayed any reason to alarm anyone. But then again, the hijackers for 9/11 probably didn't either.

Oh Jesus.
That's just what we need, a state of paranoia. Your reasoning that on the off-chance something may happen is why he should turn him in is crap. The only reason that you feel justified in doing so is because he's here illegally.
I'm sure you've always turned someone in to HR when they jokingly said they'd like to do anything negative. I mean after all, something COULD happen, right?
EDIT: And I also like how you threw in 9/11 for an extra dose of patriotism. We have to make sure we round up the illegals because they caused 9/11, yea!!!

So you would still report him even if you became his friend before he told you that he was an illegal resident?

That's why I said above, it's a tough situation. Not sure what I would do. I just explained above worst case scenario.
And yes, some of my employees are my friends outside of work. But being a supervisor, I need to seperate friends from work. If they screw up, I have to lay into them. If they screw up bad enough I have to report them to HR. It's my job. I don't have the luxury of playing favorites.

Of course he would. People have to keep up their E-Image on ATOT of being always perfect and adhering to strict principles no matter how much of an ass it makes them look or how unrealistic their behavior is.

So now it's "if they screw up bad enough" I have to report them to HR.
What happened to it being your job to report them to HR even when they're joking around?

Spoken like someone who most likely has never been in a supervisory position for a corporation where politics is number one. Thanks for the flame.

Did you come into this thread just to debate? I didn't. I was merely making statements. You're picking a fight.

When you pose an absolutely ridiculous scenario based on paranoia, fear, and false-partiotism, don't expect to get away with it.

Okay i'm out of this thread. You obviously have anger issues. No sense in arguing with someone with a mindstate like yours. Pathetic.
