I had been having the problem of noise in my audio coming from the pc caused by all the noise inside a pc case. It is onboard audio on a gigabyte p35-DS3L.

I thought about using a home theater receiver with a optical/coax connection and just thought it was too bulky. I already have two crt monitors, laser printer, wacom tablet, mouse, keyboard, etc on the desktop , really not much spare room.

I also got tired of the quality of some of the other pc speakers.
A friend suggest the Behringer MS20 speakers.

I was skeptical at first since they are only 20 watts.
After using them though I am simply amazed. They are more than loud enough and sound the best I have ever heard on a 2 speaker setup on a pc.

They are very solid speakers. The cases are heavy and not cheaply built. The right speaker houses the amplifier and controls. Treble, Bass, Line 1 Volume, Line 2 volume, Headphone, power button. On the back you have optical/coax inputs, line inputs rca, line inputs 1/8" jack. You can play sound through the digital ports and the analog ports at the same time and mix them with the front volume control. No wall wart adapter , just a ordinary AC cord. They are also shielded so you can place them near a monitor without problems.

The built in dac is 24bit/192khz and sounds very clear.
Low and High sounds great on them, really impressed.

Price is $100 shipped it you get them from where I did, American Musical Supply.

Or $130 for the 40 watt version

If 20 watts isn't enough for you , they have a 40 watt version.

I can see me keeping these in my collection a long time. You can use them with virtually anything from a pc to a dvd player.

Designed in Germany. Made in China.

I almost got the MS40s but ended up with Swan M200 MkIIs. $80 more.
Swans got great reviews and couldn't find much on the Behringers. One guy that seemed to have inside knowledge knocked their quality so that reflected poorly.

The front power button and headphone jack are a plus.

I looked at the Swan speakers, but they aren't digital input speakers and so wouldn't have solved my problem.
The MS20 have both digital and line inputs so I can use them with anything.

I would go with the little m-audio speakers over behringer. Behringer quality isn't really very good.

And again, M-audio are not digital input speakers.

I was thinking of getting these for my 360. Sometimes when I am playing rockband or guitar hero I dont want to turn on my 7.1 hi-fi but still want good sound that my HDTV lacks. But I want digital to cut down on cable clutter. These seem to fit that bill perfectly.
