My rebate came for $146...$6 per gallon and $25 per 5 gallon.

I bought 3 five gallons and 17 gallons of paint.

Rebate is $31 short.

Anyone else have this problem? Stupid Home Depot reciepts are thermal now and my original reciept is about faded to dust. I have a copy of it though and copies of all the upc's except for the 5 gallon ones which they tell you to write as it's molded in the can.

$31 is not a ton of money, but it'd cover one of the gallons I bought.

With as crappy as behr paint is they should give you your rebate, I would call em on it. Threaten them that you will use a good paint next time like Ben Moore, Sherwin Williams or Valspar next time :p

I have had no problems with Behr paint and the savings was great. I don't spray my paints and that's where a lot of the complaints stem from and pros that want to get by with one coat. I prime and paint 2 top coats. Even when you spray you are supposed to back roll though.

To buy the same paint at Benjamin Moore I'd have spent double the $600 or so I did. Chances are before that lifetime for the paint was up, I'd have to repaint or want to change the color anyway. It's a better paint if you are the type that pays someone to paint once every 10 or so years though.

1. Call the number on the rebate form and ask about it. Many times that's all it takes to get a problem corrected. I think it's 1-866-800-4285.
2. There's a special place just for posts like this: ~~~~ Rebate Tracking Thread ~~~~ . Try it, you'll like it. :)

Are you trying to paint beyond your means? I don't know how you can rationalize using cheap paint when the $$$ paint is better.

Nice try troll, however; like I said I get no benefit as far as I can tell using Benjamin Moore over Behr. I have used both in the past. For the colors I have used they are comparable.

I am using light colors mostly though over white walls. The Behr Ceiling paint also seemed the whitest to me testing ben moore, glidden and behr.

How often are you painting?
I painted my house about 3 years ago and I am thinking about painting again kind of soon rather than waiting until it needs scraping and sanding.

THe DIY boards are full of anti-behr...mostly stemming from pros and then others just following suit without every trying it.

to the other poster, I have moved before I have needed to repaint...usually in 4-5 years.

FWIW, Consumer Reports highly recommended Behr when the wife and I were buying paint a few years ago. Home Depot also often has a good selection on their "OOPS" rack for $5 a gallon - can't beat that. We didn't pick out any colors we didn't like, but we were able to paint several rooms of the house with OOPS paint. At the time we were at Home Depot at least twice a week, so we just checked the pile every time we were there.

Well that and of late they seem to have thinned out the paint so it does not perform as well. Now since you said you are using light colors/whites then as long as you use a good primer then there will probable not be a hugh difference.

I prefer lowes Valspar compared to Behr. Not the best but compared to the lowered quality of behr and the price of others it seems to be the best all round IMO right now. But paint companies are changing formulas every year.

I do usually 2 coats of primer always. It's way cheaper than any paint and with a nice roller gives a great base texture.

The 'oops' paints are a great way for anyone (esp apartment dwellers) to redo a room...a modest room can get by on one coat with a gallon...sometimes you can get two. I had 4 'oops' gallons created when the guy told me to put back my enamel I brought up saying he had no room for it. He grabbed the regular paint when he finally got around to it.

I don't notice too much difference between the coverage I am getting with the Behr I am using now and the stuff I used back in 1995 on my first house.
