I've never heard of this before, apparently it was only discovered a few years ago. Essentially, it's a dinosaur snake, which is just as scary as it sounds. The Titanoboa was more than 40 feet long and weighed about a ton. It went extinct a few million years after the dinosaurs.

Excellent as a pet - guaranteed to keep pesky rodents out of your air conditioners! :)

Crazy. I always figured there were snakes like that back then, but didn't know we'd actually found evidence of them.

Excuse me while I go scream in terror for an hour followed by never going to sleep again.

how does something that size feed? it surely can't sneak up on sleeping prey, and i doubt it was agile enough to chase anything :/

I imagine it wouldn't have such a hard time taking down giant sloths or lying still for weeks at a time waiting for a deer to walk into its mouth.

Can you imagine if you lived in a place where things like THAT slither around looking for a snack like you? Yikes!
