I know I'm behind the power curve on the DX8 bandwagon. In order to install/run 3DMark2001, you need DX8 installed. (Another 2 hour download on my zippy 56k modem
)
Installed DX8, no probs. Before running 3D2001, I decided to give 3DM2000 a whirl with DX8 to see how it performed. Got the very bad BSOD, got it back to dekstop and had a "required .dll file is moved or missing" message. Believe it or not, even though I'm running Win98SE, BSOD's are a rarity for me. I install all updates/service packs as they come out. I guess I'm just lucky, but anyway, seeing a BSOD is quite a shock for me.
I tried to run 3DM2000 again, got the same error message, but no BSOD.
Has this happened to anyone else? Maybe this is Standard Operating Procedure w/DX8...I dunno, so please only call me a dork one time if this is the case.
One upside, before retiring for the evening, just for grins, I booted up UT. Got an average of 92 FPS (1024 x 768 x 32 @ 100Hz). This is up exactly 10FPS from my previous scores. (Running the 7.52 Detonator).
