Okay guys the system is put together and I've begun to OC. I've never done this before so I'm going to log what I do in this thread and see if you guys can give me advice as I go.

System:

Abit NF7-S 1.2
2100+XP 'B'
512 Megs PC3000 HyperX
Radeon 9500 Pro
SLK-800 w/ TT Smart Fan

At stock settings : 133 x 13 1.6 cpu core volts ---> 41 degrees average.

It ran totally fine with over 11000 3dmarks at stock.

The first thing I did was bump the fsb to 166 and left the stock multiplier at 13. I bumped the voltage from 1.6 to 1.7. It has been running prime for around 10 minutes and is now at 45 degrees. It has been at that same temperature for about 90% of the test. Is this normal? Should I do something differently? Also, the temperatures are being read off of the mobo sensor itself so I don't know exactly how accurate it is. What is a normal temperature?

Lemme know any thoughts you have guys and if you need any more information from me!

BY THE WAY : When you guys talk about upping the voltage, you're talking about the voltage labeled 'Cpu Core Voltage' in the bios right? :p

Yes.. newbie is a good description if that is what you're thinking ;)

Ok well I'm currently running 50 degrees @ 2220 mhz (185x12). The ram is in sync at 370mhz (stock for my pc3000). The voltage has been upped to 1.775 as I could not get it to run stable at a lower voltage. It does appear to be running stable now however. Are these temperature variances normal? Would you attack this in a different way if you were me or does this look to be about the end of the road for me?

I'm using a SLK800 w/ TT Smart Fan running at around 5000 rpm (decided to not let it be smart :p).

I tried lowering the multiplier and upping the FSB but I get an error on Test 1 of Prime 95 when I hit 195x11.5.

I am extremely new to this and am wondering what would be a good way to go about stress testing the memory? I would like to see what settings are the best this stick can do (Kingston HyperX PC3000).

have you tried raising ram voltage (vdimm)?

memtest86 is a program to test if the ram is holding up at high frequencies

How high is the suggested stop point on increasing ram voltage? The stock on mine is 2.6 and I raised it to 2.7. However, the board does not allow for .01 increases so the only other options are 2.8 and 2.9.

2.7 should be a good limit
2.8 would also be aite

my asus board also starts at 2.6v lol (default is supposed to be 2.5 afaik)
