Beginner's question about the duron + KT7 overclocking

1. Would it be ok that I stick with the fan and heatsink comes with the Duron and overclock to 900? What decisive temperature will force me to go for global win?
2. Is it necessary to flash the bios on the kt7 chip, or what's new features of the new bios? What's the hazard of running the original bios coming with abit kt7 no raid?
3. Some of my components are pretty ancient, (video: trident 9865, sound: opti3931), does the video card affects the overclocking? my memories are 64+64+128 Kingston Value Rams PC100.
4. Someone mentioned that failed to boot while tweaking will need to reinstall windows. I'm having my 20gb harddrive installed with triple systems, win98/2k/linux. What would likely be my situation? I have to reinstall all three OS? I would rather kill~!@#
5. What software do I need to test overclock result, and are they necessary for overclocking purpose?

Lots of questions.

Check out a general overclocking guide.

Here's a decent one...

1) Temperature shouldn't get above about 45 deg C for saftey.
2) New BIOS is always nice if it has more features. Often they improve stability and compatability too.
3) Why did you spend money on a KT7 with a video card like that?? You duron will be sitting 90% of the time doing hardly anything, just WAITING for the video card to catch up (any kind of graphics apps that is).
4) A failed boot rarely results in a destroyed OS. It has happened, but it is not common. Especially when you're not increasing the FSB too much.
5) Try running Prime95 or RC5 to test CPU stability. Run things like Q3A to test video and RAM stability (more necessary for increasing FSB)
