Beginner overclocking w/ Asus A8R-MVP

okay, just finished building up my current system and now that things are set and running good I want to try a little overclocking since all this new hardware can seem to handle it. Now I have done very little, and I stress the very, overclocking in the past so this will basically be my first attempt. Im not sure where to start, I tired loading the auto overclocking profiles in the bios with no luck, kept getting unstable overclock message. So im looking to you guys for some advice on where to start, what I can expect, etc... All my specs are listed below but if you need to know anything else let me know
