Beginner OCing Question

I just finished building my FIRST system ever, and now I'd like to try and OC. Here are my specs:

ABIT KT7A RAID
1.2ghz T-Bird
PAL6035 w/ YSTECH fan
2x 128mb Mushkin Rev3 memory
2x 45gb IBM 75gxp Desktar Hard drives

I tried fooling around a bit in the BIOS, but really have no idea what I'm doing. I did set it at 9x133/33, but other than that I have no idea what I'm doing. Any other people with the KT7A board that can guide me step by step in the BIOS as to what to do? I'd love to get 1.35ghz, if that's possible with the setup I've got. The system isn't very loud so if there's some other loud-fast fan or something that would let me get to that mark, then I would sure love to do that. Right now, the core temperature idles at about 46 degrees celcius. I used Artic Silver..and since it is my first system..I'm not quite sure I attached the heatsink to the processor properly or not..all I did was put a thin layer of artic silver on the core of the processor, stuck the heatsink on and attached it. Is that all you have to do?

Thanks,
Sage

First of all is your Tbird unlocked ?

<< I did set it at 9x133/33 >>

you set it, did it work ?
As for HSF installation some temps idle/load(as an indicator before the bashing starts) would be helpful. It SOUNDS right, just to make sure.

First of all what is it exactly that you are trying to achieve?

If its just that you want to o/c your TBird further then it appears you have found the right part of the BIOS. You obviously have an unlocked 1.2, which is always handy.

I have the same board and chip as you, mine is running at 8x150=1200.

If you are after BIOS tweaks for your memory etc then I can help you with that too...

I have the same question!
Also 1.2 T'Bird on a KT7A-RAID...

I can get 1266 just fine, but at 1333, I POST, but then BSOD going into Windows...
At 1266 my full load temp is 49 with a Taisol.

The idle temperature is around 46 degrees celcius, and I'm not sure about the temperature under full load. How can I check that? Yes, it is unlocked, and it works fine at 9x133/33. When you set it at 8x150, did you just set the FSB increment thingy to 17 and the multiplier to 8? You don't have to change the 133/33? As for the ram, I went to that website that had all of those kt7/kt7a etc FAQ, but one of the things I had to set was the DRAM clock, I believe, or something like that, and I was supposed to set it to HCLK+PCICLK, but in the BIOS the only option available was Host CLK. Thanks guys.

No, I did not increase the voltage because I'm afraid it's easier to fry the CPU that way.

Opinions?

ejoech, hostclk+pci is only available if your running at/near 100fsb. And yes you should try bumping the voltage a bit, will definately help you with oc'ing... I have mine at 1.8 & it's fine, definately not burning up. Your Alpha HS is definately good enough to keep your t-bird from frying
