For those thinking of buying the Zalman NB-32J Passive Heatskink
If you get the Zalman, just
MAKE SURE FOR THE- LOVE OF GOD - that you sand down all for sides of the Zalman for the retention clip/ring. When you try to mount all four clips into the hooks, if there is too much pressure, then you need to file down the sides on the Zalman a bit more. I didn't do this and have only myself to blame for half-assing it with a broken retention clip flying off as my prize. I only did this good enough for about 3 sides, and the 4th not enough. So imagine my puzzlement at why all of my temps went up by about 5c across the board after installing the Zalman. I just thought it was poor case airflow? So I buy the new ABIT NB Heatsink/fan and then when I go to install it, I find out that the Zalman had to much pressure on one of the retention clips and had BROKEN COMPLETELY OFF on one of the sides. So it was just hanging on there. Thank god for Super-Glue, and thats what I used to glue the clip back into it's socket.
Yeah, so thats why the temps where up. If you do get a Zalman, make sure you sand the stubs down, but don't over do it or else the ring wont work at all. Also with the newer ABIT NB Heatsink/fan, my temps have come down by about 4-5C, compared to the original ABIT craptastic NB Heatsink/fan. It's a tough decision deciding on which to go with. If your not Overclocking, then go with the Zalman, but if you are then I think you need the extra cooling from the active fan.
BTW, anyone want to buy an already modified Zalman NB-32J
