Before Video Drivers...

Before you install your Video Drivers in Windows or Linux or whatever, do all of the Windows move extremely slow. Do they always redraw every time you move them or scroll?

I never thought to ask before, but I just started messing around with VMWare and in my VMWare Ubuntu 6.10 EVERYTHING crawls (And I just finished installing VMWare Tools).

I've always had that problem in Windows. I don't think I've ever had that problem in Linux (Slackware/Gentoo/Knoppix) and that's even if I don't have the video drivers installed. I'm pretty sure I have something enabled in the kernel when building it but I don't really remember, it's been awhile. But yeah it is really irritating 🙁

Just making sure it wasn't my card. I remember back in the Win 98 days it wasn't like this before Video Drivers and since then I have always ran into this but never thought much of it.

I wonder how I can get VMWare to refresh everything and render it properly/fast enough.
