nividia vista drivers don't work well for gaming yet, so unless you dual-boot, expect poor performance and stability problems.

Hi, just installed it. Don't play alot of games lately. The only games i really play is Oblivion and Warcraft3TFT.

Anyways, anyone know how to get SpeedFan to work with vista. Thanks!

You must have administrative privileges to install Flash Player 9. Please log on with administrative privileges and try again

Apparently i am not in control of my own computer...
Can someone give me a hand?
I am just instaling a Plug-in so i can actually view

Are you logged in under the account that Vista created for you during installation? Or are you logged in under a "standard" account created after the main account was finalized? If so, then you need to log in under the first (admin) account. When I installed it I used the first account, and did not have any problems installing software. If you have the proper privileges on the account you will still see UAC prompts asking you to confirm that something should be installed, but it should go ahead and work once you do.

Edit: Oh, as to the 'thinking.' Not sure what you mean by that, but probably it is Vista indexing your hard disks, which it does for a little while post-installation.

Hi, it was weird, i was logged on as the main account with full admin privileges . I had to do a manual install by downloading the file and running it in that fashion. Worked that way.

And about thinking. it does heavy processing for some reason at random times. So thats strange.

* If an install fails, Vista will prompt you to try running it again as an administrator after you exit the initial attempt. Or, just right click and click on "Run As Administrator."

* Vista G80 drivers don't suck nearly as much as you think (aka what you read on some ****** gaming "website") they do for performance. The drivers are just as good if not better than their XP counterpart.

Limited accounts are a good thing. Imagine you accidentally download a virus or something while running under limited privileges - when it tries to change something major, it will hit the same roadblocks as you would if you tried the same thing.

Yea thats a positive.
I find it funny when i put cd into the drive, it prompts me with a message "Run autorun.exe or view folders of the cd" while at the same time the cd runs on its own (The autorun.exe)

I used Vista for about a month (yes, it's a legit copy), but I just went back to XP yesterday. I loved Vista, but I experienced the infamous Creative sound issues; OpenAL wasn't so great for some games, sound cracking, static, etc. Also, I don't know what Vista was doing but it would be doing something in my media folders (I saw green bar slowly fill up) and it would take almost forever and slow down the system.

There are some things I love about Vista, but I will wait until some drivers mature or I upgrade.

It was reading all the information from the video files and creating thumbnails.

Hrm, I know that there are issues out there, but I got to weigh in here. I'm running Vista Ultimate on a ASUS A8N32-SLI, Athlon 64 X2 4400, and a 7900GTX.

I've played WoW, SupCom, Titan Quest, Half Life 2, and Prey. Now, I know this is a huge list but so far it's been flawless except for Tital Quest where it kept crashing in a certain point. To remedy it, I simple changed the compatibility over to "Windows XP SP2" and it worked like charm.

Again, I know and realize that there are issues out there -but I just wanted to say that my experience has been mostly positve. :)

I think Dave might have been specifically talking about your 8800? If so, yes...there are issue with that card in particular. Everyone is scrambling trying to get (stable) drivers to the table. I recall an interview I read last month where a person from nVidia stated that they had Vista drivers in development for years.

I made the switch, and I have one problem. My printer doesn't work, and Dell won't come out with the driver until April.
