Hmm, that's odd. Here at JHU they seem interchangable for the toss ping pong balls into cups game. I am awesome at it. :p

Beirut...damn I miss that game. We played that at least twice a week, had tournaments, it was a way of life when I was in college. 89-93. You feel pretty happy after playing 7 or 8 games of that.

Noone I've talked to seems to know for sure. maybe throwing it back and forth is like bombing?

I've seen variations of what I know as Beirut and it was called Beer Pong.

Anyone play a game called "Caps" ??

Exactly, make a pyramid of cups (1 cup at the front then two behind that then 3 etc) and toss the ball, 0 or 1 bounces are allowed depending on the length of the table.

We play 6 cup or 10 cup, 2 players on a side and each player gets 1 shot a turn. If both players make a cup on the same turn then they get the balls back and get to shoot again. Bounce shots count for 2 cups if you get it in but the other team can use their hands to stop the ball from going in. That gets interesting later on when you're too drunk to pay attention, or lose the reflexes necessary to stop the ball.

If you knock over any cups they count as cups that were shot in. We play that you re-rack the cup pyramid when theres 4 cups left into a diamond, and 2 cups left one behind the other.

We also have some other weird stuff like satellite cup where if you make it into the drinking cup of someone on the other team and it has beer in it, its automatically game over you win. Also depending on where you are at, because every house is a little different, some play that on shots that spin around before going in that girls can try to blow into the cup and push the ball out and guys can use 1 finger to try and finger the ball out quickly before the ball settles.

We also play that if both players make their shot into the same cup on the same turn its automatically game over, so a lot of times both on a team shoot at the same exact time so that the other team doesn't have time to move the cup out of the way before the second person on the team shoots.

Same here, however, we do play if it hits a cup in the air, bounces on the table and back into a cup, it counts. It's rare but I've seen it happen depending on what kind've spin the ping pong ball has. It's the other teams jobs to swat it away after it first makes contact with a cup.

our satellites are different. If they are used, they are filled to the brim, instead of 1/3 of the way.

bouncing and blocking are lame.
