Paulaner Salvator is a Bavarian double bock with a long history. Monks began brewing the beer in the 17th century as a Lenten staple. The beverage of grains, yeast and herbs was "liquid bread," the monks decided, and could be consumed as part of an abstinence diet of bread and water. The monks cold-lagered, or stored, their extra-strong beer 41 weeks. Four centuries later this very dark-brown brew still packs a wallop--7.9 percent alcohol by volume.

That's a tasty slice of bread if I ever saw one!!!!!

Next time I go to Subway and they ask what kind of bread I want, I think I'll say Guiness.

Beer has lots of nutritional value. Around the turn of the century, beer formed a substantial part of peoples' diets.
