And I get to open the beer fridge! MMmmm nothing like starting off a holiday with some tasty Heinekens from the beer fridge!!!

Best of all, THEY ARE FREE!

Who pays for them? For every minute you are late to a meeting, you contribute $1 to the beer fund.

Of course I only find out about this now, two weeks after I started working.

Last place I used to work at held beer Fridays. We'd stop working at 4:00 on the last Friday of the month and get pizza and beer. It's not uncommon in smaller companies.

Why don't you believe me?? :(

If it's true, just take pictures and pwn everyone.
But I have no camera :( Best I can do is take pictars next week, and I bet I'll have to wait till Thursday before it is stocked again.

edit: welll the time-activated lock part was shens, not the 5:00 rule. Its just a regular fridge but the beer policy works on the honor system...or pretty much anyone caught with a beer before 5pm has serious grounds for dismissal!

It's usually illegal to have alcohol in the work environment.

Sure about that? I worked for a sports/entertainment promotions company and they kept beer in the "community" fridge at work. While most people drink a soda or a bottled water, we'd be having a beer while doing our work.

Clients loved the idea.

Actually, if he works at a beer company he's allowed to. I'm pretty sure it's illegal, but they give you your own personal fridge.

One of my teachers was an accountant for Labatts and he was given a fridge full of beer each day. :)

EDIT : They used to give a fridge for the regular employees with a limit of three each, but one guy abused it, drank about 20, drove home and killed someone. Since then it has been only "allowed" to the workers higher up.

What in the hell are you talking about?
It's probably against company policy in most large companies, but I don't see why there would be any laws against it for a private business.

It's against company policy where I work to have any alcohol on company property in our U.S. facilities, but at our plant in France, most of the employees sit down for lunch in the lunch room with a glass of wine.
