OK, I just built a new system with the ASUS P4S8X and Radeon 9700. But when I'm playing games, I get an occasional beep from my computer. How can I find out what these beeps mean? I'm guessing this is some sort of voltage issue?

nope you'd be surprised what it is. It occurs when you press three buttons on the keyboard simulatenously in a game, like in CS when you are ducking and trying to move. I have replicated this over and over and indeed it even happens on my emachine computer. I don't know what causes this, and if its specific to PS/2 keyboards or not.

That can't be the problem. I get the beeps when running 3DMark and I'm not touching the keyboard. :frown:

Yeah, I was getting the beep when I pressed three buttons simultaneously in FIFA World Cup 2002, so I originally thought that was the problem. But recently when I was only pressing one button in Virtua Tennis, I heard that beep too. So...anyone?:)

Well, I don't think it can be the voltages either. I set the BIOS to "Ignore" in the voltage monitoring menu and I'm still getting beeps when running 3DMark and 3D games in general. If I can't figure out the problem I'm just going to unplug the case speaker and forget about it since everything appears to be running smoothly. I'd prefer to not have to do this, but I'm not going to listen to beeps when playing games.

*bump* I refuse to believe that no one on these boards has any clue what could be causing these beeps :)

well you could always yank that system speaker out you know.....

Haha...well, that's exactly what I have done for now. I unplugged the speaker from the motherboard, but I would still like to know what is causing the beeps just in case it is something I should be concerned with.

I also have this problem with the annoying beeping when I'm playing wc3 or dod. I have an asus p4b533-v with p4 1.8a running at 2.25GHz. Someone on the asus netQ forum said it's the problem with psu quality causing the 3.3V to drop below 3.0. I just spent $50 on the raidmax 400W power supply and I want to make sure it's the power supply problem b4 I spend more money on another one.... anyone else can confirm that psu is the problem?

I originally thought it must be a power supply problem, but I still got the beeps after setting the BIOS to "Ignore" on all of the voltage monitoring menu items. So now I'm not so sure.

yeah, i tried the same thing in the bios and the beeps won't go away... i wonder if this is isolated to the asus/nvidia combo or just asus? it seems like most people who have this problem has asus board and ti video card.
