When my friend turns on his computer, it makes beeping sounds, and the EPoX 8K7A board says C1. It was perfectly fine for the three months hes had it, hes recently overclocked his video card, could that be the problem? its a gainward cardexpert geforce2 pro. hes in college right now and he needs the computer!!

the post code C1 relates to the auto-detection of on-board dram and cache. Please post the number of audio error beeps and the sequence of the beeps. e.g. 1 long then 2 short, ect. that he's hearing.

O.k. here's the deal, If it sounds like a police siren it's heat related if it's a continuos beeping (which sounds like what you descibed) it's the ram. reseating the ram should resolve the problem.

It's either not seating all the way, has dust or something preventing contact or is as you have already surmised, toast.
