Could be a malfunctioning cpu fan? When your system beeps watch the fan and see if it slows, or stops and starts.
A strange thing happened to to me once. I thought my system beeping everytime 3dmark 2001 got to the Nature test. I thought it must be excessive heat, or a malfunction. I ran 3dmark and got right down by my computer to watch and maybe hear exactly where the beeping was coming from. Turns out it was my UPS! It would beep everytime during the Nature scene. Wierd. I turned the UPS off and on and it's never done it since...
Whooa... is that idle temp for CPU? :Q That seems awfully high, especially for Asus board, which reports temps a bit lower than actual... What cooling are you using? voltage?
My Pentium III 500 beeps sometimes too, its an anoying high tone sound thats faint just like yours. I just clean the inside of the case off real good, and clean the fan and heatsink and it goes away. I think its from heat.
Well... it was kind of strange because it would only beep during the 8K Prime95 test. Afterwards, it stopped beeping.
At 3.312ghz and fsb@184 Vcore 1.575 (MBM5 Vcore 1.62), Prime95 ran 7 hours without error before I exited, and Memtest86 went through 4 loops without a hitch.
I'm going to bring it down to fsb@180 so I can use stock voltage.
