Has anyone ever seen this before? And know what would cause it?

Thats the loading of a DVD, and the DVD starting to play. It plays fine, but it has this beeping in the background. Does it with any disc. I tried two different playback programs too.

I'm leaning towards the drive, but want a 2nd opinion.

Just a random guess...do you have the analog audio cable connected?(to the DVD drive)...if so disconnect it.

I'd have to check that. It probably is connected as we used to use the drive to play music CDs over the sound system, but we have a seperate player for that now so I can unplug it if it's plugged. Never understood why that was even needed, you'd think Windows would just play the CD at the software level.

Also when the drive is ejected or closed it makes noise on the sound system as well.

Windows doesn't need that cable anymore to play audio CD's. Take it out.

Replaced the drive and did not plug that cable, works like a dream now. The drive was due for replacement anyway, 50% of burns were coasters.
