beeping sound when i was checking my bank accoutn details online

Hello,

I use ADSL to connect to my ISP. a While ago i was checking my bank details using the net.

when i disconnected from the bank site , i tried to make a call using my landline, there was a constant beeping sound (single beeeeep) on my landline and i could not make the call. when i restarted my machine the constant beeping sound went away and i could make a call.

do you guys think that the constant beeping sound had something to with me checking my bank details online?
 
Do you have a modem in the machine that's also plugged in? if so, that sounds like the problem. DSL uses freq's above human hearing, so I don't think it's the DSL modem.
