Okay, I've got this beeping that occurs when I'm scrolling with my keyboard up and down arrows. This also happens when I click on my sound icon and use the up and down keys to adjust the volume, it acknowledges with a beep. This is very annoying and loud when I'm using headphones. Anyone know of this problem or know of a solution? I'm almost about to buy a new sound card just to get rid of this!!!

I have the same problem with the soundstorm in my A7N8X. I have tried many fixes that have worked for some people, but they didn't work for me. Here they are:

-Mute everything in the nforce control panel except audio out.
-Turn down the volume in nforce control panel to about 1/3.
-For WinXP: Update computer HAL to ACPI Advanced Configuration and Power Interface and upon reboot, go into bios before Windows comes back up and disable APCI.
-Make sure audio codec and nforce sound processing unit both have their own IRQ, and that it isn't shared with anything else.
-Try the Realtek sound driver.
-Try various nvidia soundstorm driver releases.
-Try the lates bios.
-Put a passive heatsink on the southbridge.
-Go to the Epox forum at AMDMB forums and/or NforcersHQ for help.

Some who have bought a soundcard to fix the problem still have the problem. Who knows why?

Thanks pelikan for the help. I've actually decided to install winxp to see if it made a difference (I was running win2k). So far it didn't fix the problem. However, the nforce tray icon actually has a volume control and will not beep if adjusted through that instead of the windows sound icon. The problem still exists when I scroll up and down. I've updated my bios to the latest version and have the latest drivers installed. I will try a few more things from your suggestions. Hopefully this problem can be solved. Bye the way, where did you find all this information? I wonder if a lot of other people have this problem that there would be some sort of general fix already?

The problem is a bios setting. It causes any beep to be rerouted from the small system speaker's out via the on-board sound chip. It's called "AC97 Speaker at POST", at the bottom of the Intergrated Perhripheials screen and if you disable it, the beep will go away.

Yes, a lot of other people have this problem, and those are the fixes so far. The beeping is probably interference from other area(s) of your mb.
I've been researching this at AMDMB and NforcersHQ forums. A lot of good info there.
Good luck. I hope you can fix it.

Thanks. I'll try that right now. It sounds like a boot beep that you are talking about though, not faint beeps and hiss that can be heard while browsing the internet and using the mouse.

This setting is already disabled in my bios. Could it be another setting?

As it turns out, I only thought that disabling the setting helped. But I'd just disabled the beep in the dos app that I was running. Once I re-enable the sound, it was again routed out via the on-board sound instead of the system speaker. I have not been able to figure out how to turn it off for the system, but will update you if I do.

Okay guys, I've done some researching and browsing on the other forums. Someone suggested using TweakUI to disable the beep. Go here to download. Go to general and uncheck the Beep on errors box. This is after I set the sound themes in the control panel to no sounds. Try that and see if that works. It seems to have disappeared for now.

I've got another way that's better in that it should allow you to control the volume of the beep instead of turning it off, without changing other parameters.

Control Panel, Sound and Audio Devices. Under Device volume, click the Advanced button. Click on Options, Properties, scroll down and check the "PC Speaker" box. You now have a PC Speaker volume control you can adjust on the Master Volume control.

Okay, first off my solution with TweakUI did not completely eliminate the beep. As I scroll up and down or press a key too fast, the beeping will still occur. Secondly, there's no PC speaker volume control for me. I've looked through the advanced
tab and saw everything else except the PC speaker control. I'm hoping to restart this thread at amdmb forums. As for now, I don't think there's a specific fix for this. I wish there was, its a real annoying problem. I'll keep you guys updated.

Umm, I had the same problem at first. Worse, I stupidly allowed Microsloth to update my audio drivers - and completely lost rear channel sound. Well, not completely, I could turn off Dolby Surround Encoding - then the rear speakers worked, but the sound was only an intermitent crackle. POS!

I made a mistake when trying to reload the proper drivers, and my system would not load winblows except in safe mode. I ended up having to go back to the restore point I created. But here's what I think I did to load my drivers properly:

1) get the latest drivers from Nvidia
2) remove all drivers via Control Panel's Add/Remove. Remove the devices in Device manager.
3) load the latest drivers from Nvidia, and reboot
4) allow it to reload all the devices
5) download the 2.03 drivers, and unzip them to the desktop
6) manually reload the 2 sound device drivers, pointing to the unpacked folder's "Audiodrv" subfolder.
7) reboot and pray

After this, my sound properly again, and I can also select a PC Speaker from the Properties window of the Audio Devices window. Hope it helps you out.

EDIT: I tested the PC Speaker volume control and mute, and it works!

Even though this worked for the beep problem, I got so disguested with Soundstorm dying in the middle of a game of UT2003, I diabled it and put my Soundbastard Live back in my box.
