ok.. Ive got my p4b266-c with a 1.6a clocked to 2.4
and Im getting an odd beep every once in awhile, while its running
it doesnt seem to cause any problems.. but it is kindof annoying
I just noticed it the other day.. and that happened to be the same day that I flashed the bios from 1003 to 1004.. but Im not sure if that would have anything to do with it..

looking in the book.. i would say the description it fits into is

high frequency beeps when system is running - meaning: cpu overheated; system running at a lower frequency

well.. I keep the asus probe up.. and my cpu temp is about 43 degree celsius
and Ive checked in the bios.. I get about the same reading
and with a load.. it still doesnt get past about 46 degrees..
so I dont think its a problem with the cpu overheating..

which means, i should look at.. system running at a lower frequency..

what the hell does that mean???

update: I decided to go ahead and do the wire mod (damn that HSF is a bitch to take off!!)
anyways... i guess I did a decent job.. I took a 1 inch single strand of copper out of a phone cord and made a lasso around the toothpick part of my knife, and used some needlenose pliers to wrap it a few times.. then I slid it into place on the processor and used the pliers to wrap it a few more times to make it tight..
then a put it back in place.. reapplied my arctic silver 3.. put the HSF back on (damn I hope I dont have to take that off again soon)
and went into the bios and bumped up to 1.75.. now Im running at 30 degrees.. although the case is open, so Im sure that plays a large part in it.
so I guess everything went smooth.. Ill listen for the beeps.. but so far, so good.
