Been raped by Gillette

I just went to the supermarket the other day to pick up a new box of blades for my Mach 3 Turbo (I was sick of using my Schick Quadro). Anyway, the price for 8 blades was like $17 bucks. Unbelievable. I'm sure I could have looked for a better deal, but I so rarely buy these items, it doesn't seem worth my time.

Any suggestions on how to prolong the life of these rediculously expensieve blades?

Each blade lasts at least a month for me. And I have to shave daily or I'll end up looking like a wookie. Try checking sams club or costco

Although they're not good for more than one or two shaves, disposable razors do a great job if you're willing to spend a little more time shaving. And they're less expensive.

Anyone tried that new vibrating razor yet?

I have the same problem...shave every day. I can stretch the use of the blade for a month...but I'm looking on a way to stretch it even further.

I will make sure to buy at Walmart next time...

I like the Mach 3s but I'm about tired of spending the money on them. My dad's been using cheapo razors for as long as I can remember and they seem to do just fine. I think I'm going to look into a cheaper solution than the Mach 3.

You know... a nice kabar is only $40 or so. A good butcher's block is all of a few bucks. Get it sharp enough to shave with and save yourself some money

yup, walmart is the cheapest I have found. One blade lasts you a month? My blades usually only last me about 4 or 5 shaves

Believe me its not comfortable after a month. I usually tend to use the blades up faster when I get a new pack...and then I start stretching them out toward the end of the pack.

I feel like I've heard people mention things like keeping the blade in rubbing alcolhol or something to keep it sharp and avoid oxidation.

I got my at Wegmens a 16 pack for $21

I bleed my razors dry until I can't see any shade of blue lubricant, but then again, I shave every single day except weekends because my whiskers grow in so damn fast

Something about vibrating and razor that just doesn't sound quite right.

Same here. I can get atleast a month out of my mach 3s.
I shave atleast once a day.

I think some people tend to throw them out early because the conditioning strip goes,
while the razor is still sharp.

That's why I went electric. I don't like the shave as much, but I'll end up not having to spend a ton on blades. I spent $90 on the electric, and figured that I was spending ~$110/ year on blades.

Buy replacements on eBay. Less than a dollar apiece.

buy from ebay!

oh damn seen madcow beat me to it.

I got my wife a bunch of the venus replacements for like $20 bucks. we got like 40 of them. she still has a small box filled with them. heh

I got the new M3 power Mach 3, for IIRC 15 bucks, with 5 blades..
Yeah, buy them at Costco if you can. I don't remember what the deal was. I think it was $18 for 20 or something. I got the last of the Mach3 regulars a few weeks ago. They sell 20 Mach3 regulars for the same price as 16 Mach3 Turbos.

Oh, BTW, my blades last me nearly a month, so one buy sets me for over a year. It's the Asian half-breed thing in me... I only have to shave three or four times a week, and my beard growth is sparse.
